Robert Parker (91)
The 2010 Vinedos de la Familia is 100% Tempranillo from 60-year-old vineyards aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels. It feels a bit wild, with notes of reduction, under which there are aromas of black fruit, wet slate, graphite and peat, with some notes of dark chocolate and coffee developing with time. The palate is full-bodied, with plenty of tannins and good fruit but feels a bit aggressive. It might improve with time in bottle. Drink 2016-2020
Winespectator (92)
Big black fruit and serious tannins, but also a nice acidity that helps lift the wine to a bold, spicy finish.
