James Suckling (95)
A very exciting wine from the not very famous vineyards of Bad Kreuznach. Restrained citrus and stone fruit aromas, particularly Mirabelle plums. Ripeness and energy are precisely balanced on the medium-bodied palate. Long Amalfi lemon finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair’n Green certification. Drink or hold.
Jancis Robinson (17)
A cool, floral ascent of citrus and apple. This is a wine of singular focus, with a whisper of delicate lemon candy and the tension of rock salt. A shy but perfectly poised suggestion, with much to say as it ages. (PS)
Vinous (94)
The 2024 Riesling Bad Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Grosses Gewächs was picked on the steep, south-facing part of this site on gravel and quartzite. Right now, reduction dominates on the nose. The palate is absolutely clear-cut, stony and taut. It’s almost like the surface of a stone. This is concentrated and very slowly unpacks notions of beautiful red apple and the tangiest grapefruit peel, uniting zestiness and juicy ripeness. (Bone-dry)
