This shows wildflower honey, green and white tea, star fruit and grapefruit on the nose before blossoming into ripe mango and stone fruit. It’s full-bodied with plenty of texture, showing delicious citrus pith freshness. Very fine tannin presence. Drink or hold.
Vinous (94)
The 2024 Grüner Veltliner Rotes Tor Smaragd was picked in Spitz only, on the exposed western gneiss slopes. The shy nose allows a glimpse of pepper, but not more. The palate delivers pepper and verve in spades. Alive and vivid with spice, it is beautifully concentrated and propelled forward with energy and drive. It trembles with savor and pepper, which sets it apart.
Falstaff (95)
Medium green yellow, silver reflections. A hint of orange zest, nuances of mango, fresh yellow apple, delicate tangerine zest, mineral touch. Powerful, yellow fruit core, fine pineapple note, mineral-salty touch, balanced and versatile.
