Robert Parker (89)
As usual, the 2009 Clos Rene is well-made, but just doesn’t hit the top echelon. It reveals a dense plum/ruby color, lots of sweet black cherry and plum-like fruit, lush, heady, medium to full-bodied flavors, silky tannins, and a robust, exuberant, fat finish.
Falstaff (92)
Ripe plums, delicate dried fruit, somewhat restrained, subtle herbal spice. Elegant, fine chocolate touch, fresh structure, powerful, ripe cherry fruit, delicate nougat, good length, has potential.
