The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape checks in as a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, and the balance Syrah that was brought up in a mix of old barrels, foudre, concrete tank. It has a classic, old-school nose of earthy black (and some red) fruits, garrigue, and pepper to go with a plump, forward, delicious style on the palate. It’s well-made, nicely balanced, and has plenty of charm.
