I was able to taste two 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape barrel samples from Chapoutier. Starting with the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Barbe Rac, it reveals a healthy semi-opaque purple hue as well as a gorgeous bouquet of darker berries, spring flowers, violets, and pepper. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it’s perfectly balanced, has ripe tannins, and the more forward, charming, elegant style of the vintage front and center.
